If GLaDOS had wanted Chell dead, she would have killed her by then. But, as she had told the mute lunatic during their last personal interaction -as much as 'personal' could apply to a mitting with an AI-, killing her was hard. And, even though the core claimed to have deleted the part of her programming that gave her a conscience, Chell was provided with food, water, and everything she needed to stay alive during what she called the "Perpetual Testing Initiative". What was more: she was given a place to rest. She even got access to all her old clothes, including some much needed clean underwear, and a shower she could use to clean herself after a day of tests. GLaDOS had claimed it was important for her to have a place to stay so she would 'not try to escape during the night and murder her for the third time'. Whatever the AI's reasoning was, Chell could not be happier. The outside world was cold, irradiated, abandoned, and overall very unwelcoming, so she was more than happy to
